I have to write them into existence and then revise to fit the story. As they come to life, through their intelligence, self-awareness, and consciousness, they become sentient and very real to me.

Thank you for this. I’ve seen this episode numerous times and never thought to relate it to my characters.

In some other universe, of course.
I like the idea that my characters are self-aware, conscious etc. They certainly do surprise me with what they say and do on many occasions.

Angela – yes, yes, and yes! I feel he brings an entire new dimension to the story and without him, I don’t know that TNG would have seen the success that it did. He embodies the spirit of the show.
