Yes, the more personal you can make the fear and the stakes attached to it, the more readers lean into the story.

Thanks for teaching me how to look at fear from different perspectives. Excellent examples.
I never thought (as obvious as it seems in retrospective) that different characters have different stakes, hence they internalize fear differently.
This will certainly strengthen my writing.
